STUDENT-GUIDED test fire
The test fire was more than just a trial of a liquid propulsion engine; it was an exciting and educational hands-on learning experience for students from across Canada who share a passion for engineering. This project would not have been possible without the guidance and coaching of Launch Canada CEO, Adam Trumpour. We are also grateful to Simple Path Farms Company in Welland, Ontario, who provided the necessary land for the test fire. Christopher Hobbs, the VP of Simple Path Farms, played an important role in supporting student education by sharing his expertise in amateur rocketry.
The event provided students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop the skills required for undertaking large projects. Through participation in this event, students learned valuable skills such as project management, safety, and logistics that are not typically taught in a traditional academic setting. This experience gave students an unparalleled chance to acquire practical knowledge and apply it to real-world situations.
Throughout the event, students were organized into sub-teams and assigned specific tasks. Each team worked collaboratively and provided assistance to other teams as needed. To ensure safety and efficiency, students kept an inventory of all equipment used and developed strategies to optimize their performance. This approach not only facilitated the accomplishment of their respective tasks, but also promoted teamwork and a sense of camaraderie among the students. Overall, this experience provided students with valuable lessons in project management and collaboration, which will serve them well in their future endeavors.
